Creating a unified, innovative complex that reflects the city's identity and enriches community engagement.

Approach

Westerville City Hall has long been the heart of the city’s administrative functions, serving the community in its current location for more than 40 years. As Westerville grows and evolves, the need for a more centralized, efficient, and innovative municipal complex became clear. MA Design, the project team, and the City embarked on a transformative journey to modernize the City Hall Complex, ensuring it meets both current and future needs.

This project is guided by a shared vision: to create a unified campus that centralizes administrative functions, reflects Westerville’s unique identity, and strengthens the Uptown community experience. The design promotes transparency, collaboration, and innovation, with key features including a bridge connector and new entryways that link previously separate buildings, fostering a more integrated and open environment for both employees and visitors.

Through visioning sessions and interviews, the design team gained insights into the specific needs of the City’s departments and the community they serve. This informed our approach to creating a functional, cohesive space that supports the City’s goals. The project also includes strategic furniture layouts, AV system upgrades, and a major renovation of the City Council Chamber, setting a new standard for public service environments.
