Accommodating schedules and meeting deadlines.

Approach

When a plan for expansion to Nationwide Children’s Hospital needed to encompass the site where the original Ronald McDonald House was built, a new site had to be chosen and a new building planned.

To meet the schedule for the planned expansion to the hospital, the schedule for the second Ronald McDonald House was very tight. For this reason the drawings were done in phases – a foundation/underground package, a structural package and then a final construction document package.

To provide relief to a long waiting list, an expansion was completed in 2014, making the house the largest Ronald McDonald House in the world. The expansion added 42 new guest rooms, three themed common areas, and a stunning rooftop garden as well as a complete overhaul of their kitchen and expanded dining area.
