Fry Hall, in OSU’s College of Optometry, houses both a pediatric clinic and a low vision rehab clinic. For this renovation project, MA Design worked collaboratively with clinic leadership to design a new shared space that would function appropriately for the unique requirements of each patient group. To support patients with varied degrees of vision loss, contrasting colors help separate wall and floor surfaces and oversized door graphics enhance way-finding. The design concept was translated to the pediatric side of the clinic through bold, colored columns and punches of colors on back walls of exam rooms. These elements help differentiate the space and provide an enjoyable atmosphere for children.
