Transforming a utilitarian stair tower into a storytelling feature.
Approach
To enhance the five-story stair tower connecting the apartments to the ground level and parking garage bridge, MA Design created a custom experiential graphic that spans the full height of the space. The installation celebrates the site’s past as a Big Bear warehouse district along the Chesapeake & Ohio Railway.
Historic references, bold typography, and layered industrial imagery create a dynamic backdrop that encourages stair use while telling the story of the neighborhood. The iconic Big Bear Warehouse sign is prominently featured and remains visible from outside the glass stair tower—especially at night when the illuminated interior brings the graphic to life.
