A welcoming journey that reflects the church’s mission of connection, faith, and community while assisting weekly operations.

Approach

The renovation of Upper Arlington Lutheran Church’s Lytham Road campus focused on creating a welcoming and easy to navigate experience for visitors, families, and members. Experiential design elements were integrated throughout the facility to communicate the church’s culture while supporting the day to day needs of staff through flexible, interchangeable displays that can be updated while maintaining the design and goals.

From the entry lobby and reception to kids check-in areas, messaging and brand elements establish a warm first impression and reinforce the church’s mission of helping people find hope and purpose through faith. As people move through the building, storytelling and wayfinding elements guide the journey, including a history wall that highlights key milestones and changeable displays that share current programs and events. Vibrant graphics in preschool and youth areas create engaging environments for younger members, while a cohesive signage and classroom identification system helps visitors confidently navigate both levels of the facility.
