Reimagined neighborhood healthcare that enhances community access and is designed for flexibility and future growth.

Approach

Designed for Nationwide Children’s Hospital’s “Close to Home” initiative, this two-story, 25,000 SF outpatient facility in Grove City, OH expands access to neighborhood-based pediatric healthcare while creating a calming, intuitive experience for children and families. MA Design worked closely with hospital stakeholders to develop an efficient, flexible layout centered around a single public entrance, waiting area, and registration point, with dedicated staff support spaces and shelled areas for future growth.

The architecture embraces the concept of “Positive Distraction,” using a dramatic two-story entry and clear circulation paths to create a welcoming environment that helps reduce stress for patients and visitors. The facility includes Urgent Care, diagnostic imaging, laboratory services, therapy gyms, speech and hearing therapy, and primary care services. As part of the project, MA Design also helped establish outpatient design guidelines for future Close to Home Centers.
