Approach
The architecture of the building strives to provide a “Positive Distraction” for children in need of care. The 2 story entry space creates a focus other than the reason you are in a medical facility. The alignment of the anchor corridor on both floors helps to simplify circulation to be intuitive and calming in a stressful situation by providing direct access to multiple clinic functions.
The “Close To Home” mission statement is rooted in the broader hospital mission to provide the highest quality health care for children, regardless of their ability to pay. The “Close To Home” initiative extends this by integrating and expanding services into the community to improve the overall physical and mental well-being of children by addressing social determinants of health through initiatives in schools, neighborhoods, and homes. This local focus is guided by the overall mission to advance pediatric medicine, improve child health outcomes, and address health equity for all children
