An expanding law practice needed more room to grow downtown. Renovating the second and third floor of an existing historic building in the heart of downtown was the perfect opportunity to rethink their space. While KMFY is rooted in tradition, they are an innovative and forwarding thinking firm and wanted their workspace to reflect their brand.
A sophisticated and engaging design was conceived that is modern and authentic with bright, calming color palette and exposed raw materials with functional furnishings. A custom designed mural of downtown Columbus sets the tone when you enter the lobby space and is continued with an urban loft feel throughout the space.
With few windows and the need for secure private offices, it made capturing natural light a challenge. By adding glass walls with privacy screening, using wall and ceiling fixtures that add ambient lighting, and bright flooring, the interior workspaces and common areas feel full of light. Paying close attention to the comfort of the space, dark wood doors and felt ceiling tiles create a more upscale, home-like environment. MA adhered to State Historic Preservation Office guidelines for this renovation.
