West View Healthy Living is a not-for-profit continuing care retirement community that includes the full spectrum of care from independent and assisted living to memory care, skilled nursing and rehabilitation. The community focuses on health and wellness—of mind, body and spirit—for their residents. The project is twofold, first a two-story addition that includes 20 skilled nursing units on the first floor and 16 independent living units on the second floor. The other addition is a 21,600-square-foot single-story wellness and event center.
The 43,310-square-foot skilled nursing and independent living addition was designed to architecturally fit the traditional style of the rest of the community. It includes a new dining facility as well as rehabilitation and therapy areas. It not only connects to the existing building but also to the new Wellness & Event Center.
The Wellness & Event Center is designed not only as an amenity space for the residents but to appeal to the public as well. Through a partnership with the local YMCA, members can utilize the recreational area inside that includes a walking track. A pool allows for low-impact exercise as well as therapy. With few large event facilities in the Wooster area, West View hopes to fill a need within the community for space large enough to hold weddings, business conferences and community events. The space includes a demonstration kitchen as well as a full catering kitchen to support various trainings, events and functions.
