Woodland Terrace is a premier continuing care retirement community, designed to provide the finest in personalized care and hospitality services that elevate the quality of senior living care and services so residents can live in the community they love — even as their needs change. The master planned campus includes cottage homes and a central community building featuring apartment homes and abundant amenities for the entire community to enjoy. Within the community building there are 24 memory care units, 65 assisted living units, and 21 independent living units that provide every resident with easy access to all the amenities they could ever want or need.
Recognizing differences between the progressive stages of memory care residents, the building is laid out with two separate wings designed to best serve and support their stage of life. The unique “Y” shaped East wing creates added daylight to the interior Memory Care units and provides an opportunity for a large outdoor courtyard. Walking paths with shaded areas and a memory care garden allow the residents of that space to feel close to nature.
The interior design selections are worldly and rooted in travel, fitting perfectly in the context of the site whose neighbor is a regional airport. Materials were intentionally layered and contrasted to create an eclectic space that feels as if it has been curated over time. To further the resort-like quality of the community building, the front and back of house were designed to differentiate residents from facility functions. Support functions, including administration and housekeeping, have their own back-of-house entry and circulation, creating space without sacrificing the experience for residents. This self-contained circulation core design was the catalyst to take the institutional feel out of the center, heightening the boutique experience of the space for residents.
