project
Controlled Environment Agriculture Research Complex | The Ohio State University
This new state-of-the-art learning facility and student center for the University of Findlay serves several purposes including to improve and enhance the student experience, culture and quality of life. At the heart of the campus, careful consideration was given to connectivity of the building to surrounding areas and included designing ample exterior gathering spaces.
The College of Business’ area within the building includes more than just classrooms, lecture halls, and flex spaces. These rooms, along with two creative learning centers, an investment trading room and a “Big Ideas” incubator lab are designed to inspire creativity and foster innovative learning and collaboration. The College of Business dean’s suite and all offices for COB faculty and staff are also located within the building.
A two story central gathering space with dining offers students an area to not only eat, but study, meet and relax. The building also includes a bookstore, a campus communications center, a student leadership development suite, and the Center of Civic Engagement. At the heart of campus, this new building serves as a gathering place for other academic programs, and as a venue for campus and community arts and entertainment.
Environmental graphics are intertwined throughout the building with bright punches of color, inspiring dimensional quotes and memorable veteran’s wall and donor appreciation. All elements create a student experience that is engaging and playful while visually compelling.
The project was awarded Outstanding Design – Post Secondary Education – 2019 Architectural Portfolio from American School & University.
