Approach
One Highland is designed to add vibrancy to and complement the downtown of Fort Thomas at the intersection of Highland and Fort Thomas Avenues with a mix of inviting commercial storefront spaces at the street level and two levels of beautiful condominium dwelling units above, ranging in size from 1,700 SF to 2,800 SF. Each of the units has a large furnishable balcony, generously sized open kitchen-living-dining area with large windows for daylight and connection to the surrounding community and graceful master suite with ample closet space. Residences feel secure with private, designated structured parking below grade while a separate area provides for the commercial spaces behind the building.
The architectural language is based on the rich and varied historic built environment of the community. The roof pitches and building massing are reminiscent of the rhythms of homes along Fort Thomas streets. The architectural detailing utilizes current building technology while fitting in with the historic context. The warm and inviting materials derive from the historic Fort Thomas Tower Park structures. The typical streetscape is enhanced by an additional covered and trellised walk along Fort Thomas Avenue with strategic landscaping balancing the architecture at the street sides and garden to beautify the residential Woodland Place. One Highland’s masonry corner tower element marks the community’s gathering space and plaza at the heart of downtown and provides shelter for impromptu gatherings.
