Approach
Legacy Ridge Memory Care Community was developed from the growing need for specialized dementia and memory care in the community. An engaging atmosphere promotes positive and compassionate care that allows residents to thrive in a supportive and therapeutic environment. This design offers a comfortable modern homelike setting while providing a safe environment where residents can thrive as independently as possible with the assistance they require from a team of specially trained professionals.
This 64 unit stand-alone memory care project is made up of four households. There are two households on either side of a shared common area and are designed around a continuous wandering path for safe and secure sensory stimulation and purposeful behavior. Secured courtyards feature walking paths with raised planted gardens at wheelchair height, water features, and covered patio seating. Residents are able to feel at home with common areas like Servery kitchens and living rooms. Amenities such as a beauty salon, physical therapy gym, and small and large group activity rooms are also included. Staffers are able to monitor residents more closely with clear sight lines incorporated into the design. Residents can explore and stimulate all five senses in small quiet rooms available for calming or stimulating sensory activities.
The project was awarded Third Place – Stand Alone Memory Care – 2020 from SHN Architecture & Design Awards.
