There is nothing quite as charming as locally owned Cherbourg Bakery in Bexley, Ohio which features gluten-free and nut-free treats. Influenced by the owner’s family ties to the city of Cherbourg, France, the new retail location evokes the warm, welcoming atmosphere of a neighborhood coffee shop with an elegant nod to its French roots. Airy crème finishes, Cherbourg branded blue and gold accents and natural wood elements contrast with the contemporary terrazzo countertops, transporting customers to a bakery in France.
Adjacent to the new café is the existing production space that MA Design completed ten years ago. Needing to expand their operation, Cherbourg Bakery worked with MA Design yet again to accomplish their new goals of creating an expanded retail display with ample storage, espresso bar featuring locally roasted beans and a variety of seating options for guests to unwind in. A unique seating option in the café is the book nook. Tucked into the back of the café, the book nook features built-in seating with a custom table top, stocked bookshelves and a squirrel pendant that is a nod to the bakery’s beloved “busy squirrels” as the owner affectionately calls her staff.
By meeting these goals, Cherbourg Bakery’s new location reflects the company’s values of comfort and dependability making it a destination for all.
