For the new Welcome Center at @thedawesarboretum, For the new Welcome Center at @thedawesarboretum, several of the interior wood elements will be crafted from trees that naturally fell on the arboretum grounds. Rather than letting those trees go to waste, Dawes mills and stores the wood on site for future use. Our design team had the opportunity to hand-select timbers that will become part of spaces within the new center.

Reusing materials from the site is more than a sustainable design choice. It preserves a tangible connection to the arboretum itself, giving trees that have long been part of the landscape a new purpose within the welcome center. The result is spaces that reflects the character and history of the land while creating a warm, authentic experience for every visitor.
