MA Design partnered with New Horizons Baking Company to renovate and expand an existing industrial facility in Columbus, Ohio, establishing a new production location to support the company’s continued growth within the quick-service restaurant industry. The project incorporated new baking equipment and production infrastructure while introducing operational and employee support spaces including a new quality assurance lab, maintenance shop, parts storage, break room, restrooms, and two new seven-story silos.
The design strategically adapted the existing facility to meet the technical demands of a modern food production environment while supporting efficient workflows, product quality, and future expansion. The resulting operation is so efficient that production no longer needs to run continuously 24/7, allowing dedicated time each week for comprehensive equipment cleaning and maintenance. By integrating specialized production support areas with enhanced employee amenities, the project created a functional, scalable bakery operation positioned to meet increasing production demands while supporting product consistency, food safety, and a strong workplace experience.
