After 33+ years in Architecture, Dottie Stamm, AIA, NCARB is retiring from MA Design. Her team wanted to create a time capsule of her legacy as a way to mark this day…and you can watch what they had to say here. It’s very clear Dottie has been a mentor to many, and an inspiration to all.

She has left a legacy that is unlike any other, and despite her most incredible project work, the reputation she has built with our clients and our team is truly the most impressive professional accomplishment of all.

Her Path + Projects

Since graduating from Kent State University in 1989 with a bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Dottie has not slowed down. From her first job as an Architect in Pennsylvania to moving to Columbus in 1991, working at Karlsberger for many years and then on her own before joining KMA Design Partners, joining forces with MA Design in 2011, her career has focused on the healthcare industry, an area of passion for Dottie. One of the most fulfilling projects she says she completed was OhioHealth’s McConnell Heart Hospital and Emergency Department Addition at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Any time she drives by with her kids along SR315, she points it out, and nothing makes her more proud than hearing that they tell their friends the same thing.

Dottie’s dedication to designing quality healthcare that exudes a sense of calm will benefit patients and their families for years to come. Additional projects that Dottie finds tremendous pride in include the Adena Orthopedic Surgical Center in Chillicothe, Ohio, which we just completed last Fall, numerous projects at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky, and Helen Devos Women’s & Children’s Hospital of Grand Rapids, Michigan. These projects and countless others form the legacy she hopes to leave with those at MA who will take over her life’s work.

As many of us have been lucky to know, Dottie is truly a light that shines brightest in the room with a smile sure to make anyone’s day instantly brighter. Dottie, we wish you a very happy retirement and hope you continue to carry your spark with you everywhere you go in life. May your garden continue to grow and flourish with your hard work, just as your career has done and just as you have done throughout.
