Great Parks Sustainability Action Plan

Approach

Great Parks’ extensive park network covers over 18,000 acres in 20 different parks with a mission of protecting natural resources and providing outdoor recreation and education that enhance the quality of life for present and future generations. Working with Great Parks, MA Design developed recommendations and guidance in meeting the Cincinnati 2030 District Goals, while also looking ahead to 2050. From here, the team set measurable sustainability goals that will benefit future generations of the organization.

As part of the process, MA engaged a wide variety of staff through in-person interview sessions, open house events, and digital surveys to allow everyone the ability to provide input. The collaborative process facilitated our data analysis in a way that better identifies challenges and opportunities, and can further gauge where consensus would be needed on our proposed recommendations. From here, MA, in collaboration with our engineering consultants, recommended new policies, projects, and action strategies for straightforward implementation of sustainability objectives that will set the course for several decades of the organization.
